Chestnut Oak
Quercus montana
Size: 3-gallon
The Chestnut Oak is a hardy, majestic tree that makes a wonderful addition to large landscapes, especially for homeowners seeking shade and year-round interest. Growing 60-70 feet tall, it features a rounded canopy of deep green, lance-shaped leaves that resemble those of a chestnut tree. In fall, the leaves turn golden-yellow to rich brown, adding seasonal beauty to your yard. Its deeply ridged, dark gray bark is highly distinctive and provides visual interest even in winter. Thriving in full sun and well-drained, rocky, or sandy soils, the Chestnut Oak is drought-tolerant and low-maintenance. With its resilience, attractive form, and shade-giving canopy, it’s a timeless choice for enhancing large yards or naturalized areas.
