Pond Cypress
Taxodium distichum var. imbricarium (previously known as Taxodium ascendens)
Size: 3-gallon
The Pond Cypress is a graceful, deciduous conifer perfect for enhancing wetland areas or adding unique charm to residential landscapes. Growing 50-70 feet tall, this tree has a slender, pyramidal form with delicate, feathery green foliage that turns a warm coppery-orange in the fall. Its rugged, textured bark and iconic "knees" that emerge in wet soils add year-round visual interest. Thriving in full sun, the Pond Cypress is highly adaptable, growing well in both standing water and drier conditions once established. Low-maintenance and long-lived, it’s an excellent choice for homeowners seeking a striking, naturalistic tree for ponds, rain gardens, or as a statement piece in large landscapes.
Purchased trees can be picked up at the Sand Hill Nursery on Tuesdays between 10 a.m. and noon or at the pickup dates and times noted in your confirmation email.
