Mockernut Hickory

$45.00

Carya tomentosa

Size: 3-gallon

The Mockernut Hickory is a sturdy, slow-growing deciduous tree known for its strong wood and fragrant leaves. Typically reaching heights of 50-80 feet, it features dark green, compound leaves that turn a rich golden-yellow in the fall. The tree produces small, hard-shelled nuts that are highly valued by wildlife, though not commonly eaten by people. Thriving in full sun and well-drained, loamy soils, the Mockernut Hickory is tolerant of drought and wind, making it an excellent choice for naturalized areas or large landscapes. Its strong, straight trunk and ornamental bark add beauty and structure to any setting.
